About Me
Hi, I’m José Maldonado, the proud owner and certified FAA Remote Pilot behind MAL-DRONE-ADO, LLC. My passion is capturing the world from a whole new perspective through professional aerial photography and videography. Based in Kentucky, I serve my local and surrounding communities, helping clients with everything from real estate marketing and special events to construction progress and aerial inspections.
My journey started long before drones entered my life. I was born in Puerto Rico and raised in New York, and in 1987, I enlisted in the U.S. Army as a Combat Medic. I proudly served in Desert Shield/Storm in 1990 and later reclassified as an Armor Crewman in 1998. Over my 23-year military career, I wore many hats: Flight Medic on Black Hawks, Army Recruiter, Drill Sergeant, Tank Gunner, Tank Commander, Human Resources Specialist, and Instructor at the Armor Officer Basic Course. I also deployed during Operation Iraqi Freedom in 2003 and was stationed at Fort Knox in 2004, where I continued to train and mentor soldiers. I officially retired from the Army in December 2010 and transitioned into the federal sector — proudly calling Kentucky my home for over 21 years.
Outside of work, I’m a blessed husband of 34 years, father of four sons and one daughter, and proud grandfather to six amazing grandchildren. When I’m not flying drones, you’ll find me camping, hiking, woodworking, or spending time with my family.
My passion for drones started as a hobby over six years ago. What began as recreational flying quickly became something much bigger. I decided to take it to the next level, becoming a certified FAA Remote Pilot, fully insured, and launching MAL-DRONE-ADO, LLC. Today, I combine my love for technology, eye for detail, and commitment to excellence to deliver high-quality aerial imagery and videography for my clients.
For me, this business is personal. Every project matters, and I approach each one with the same dedication, precision, and professionalism I learned during my years of service. Whether you’re looking to showcase a property, capture breathtaking event footage, or conduct aerial inspections, I’m here to help bring your vision to life — safely, efficiently, and beautifully.
